The Nazareth Healing facility, is found 25 Km from Nairobi, at Riara Edge in Kiambu Locale. It is encompassed by a few towns. There are numerous tea and espresso ranches claimed by neighborhood individuals. These bequests are a wellspring of work for some individuals.
The Nazareth Healing facility was begun by the Consolata Evangelist Sisters in an exceptionally humble manner in 1964 as a little dispensary to address the issues of the provincial populace around Riara Edge.
Sr. Prisca Groppo, a Consolata Evangelist Sister and Restorative Specialist, was posted by the General Organization of the Consolata Sisters to Kenya and in 1965 the working for a ”little Healing center” began.
Sr. Prisca needed the Healing facility to resemble a home in which the patients could discover a heart and a mother, a clinic in which the patients could breath unadulterated air and discover expectation and satisfaction.
The primary patient was conceded in 1966, the beds were 50.
THE Reaction TO THE Developing NEEDS
The quantity of patients began to increment enormously and the interest for new offices harried the core of Sr. Prisca, who needed the best for her patients. New changes were made , until the point that the healing center limit achieved hundred beds.
The 30th November of 1971 was a pitiful day for the Nazareth Healing center. Sr. Prisca was en route from Mombasa to Nairobi when she was engaged with a street mischance. She passed on five days after the fact, at 40 years old. It was a ghastly blow for the Doctor’s facility. Her body was covered in the Burial ground of the Healing facility like a seed. Her grave discusses love, of liberality, of an existence given to others. That seed created numerous organic products!
In November 1972 another expansion of the Clinic was formally opened by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Cardinal Maurice Otunga.
In April 1984 a Disconnection Piece was finished because of the liberality of our advocates.
Reconstructive and plastic medical procedure was begun, utilizing the offices of Confinement. This program proceeds at present and numerous patients advantage from this administration.
In 1991, with the entry of Dr. S. Galvagno, orthopedic medical procedure and traumatology were begun. With the takeoff of Dr. Galvagno these administrations must be suspended briefly, yet in Walk 1994 Dr. Carlo Astini arrived and orthopedic medical procedure and traumatology were continued. Dr. Astini is a general specialist and had practical experience in orthopedics.
This was a standout amongst the most required administrations, since there were not very many focuses with experts in this field in Kenya. The couple of private Doctor’s facilities who offered these administrations in Nairobi are excessively costly, making it impossible to be managed by needy individuals.
The Nazareth Clinic has at exhibit an exceptionally qualified group of specialists who work vigorously for the patients together with alternate individuals from the staff.
Another program that the Healing facility gave exceptional consideration was the Family Program that incorporates Family Arranging. This program began in 1986.
Displaced person Administrations
Since December 1994 a program was begun in co-task with the Jesuit Displaced person Administration (JRS) to serve evacuees needing careful and orthopedic activities. There are presently around 300,000 outcasts dwelling in Kenya. Huge numbers of them are alluded to Nairobi for particular therapeutic treatment. JRS, the organizing office for this program, confronted numerous issues to have displaced person patients admitted to healing centers in Nairobi. It is thus that the Nazareth Healing center opened its entryways for this class of patients and we will do as such as long as this need exists.
The Healing center tries its best to keep the soul with which it was begun by Sr. Prisca: a healing center for the poor without any benefits for anyone. All are dealt with similarly and approach similar administrations.
The Nazareth Healing center has developed as a wonder of confidence through the help of liberal hearts and the forfeit of a few lives whose names stay in the records of the doctor’s facility and in the hearts of every one of the individuals who have been dealt with here.
The Consolata Sisters, dealt with the clinic up to the year 1999, preceding giving it over to the Franciscan Sisters of the Flawless Heart of Mary (FIHM), to proceed with the recuperating service. Today the Healing facility is under the administration of the FIHM Sisters.
Exceptionally Rev. Mother S. Regina Mary – FIHM with Sr. Leonella Sgorbati – Consolata Teacher Slaughtered in Somalia on seventeenth Oct 2006.
